Three hurt in Aker Verdal fall

Three people were seriously injured in Norway yesterday after falling between 35 and 40 metres from a man basket suspended from a crane.

The basket reportedly became entangled with the steel structure – possibly a wind jacket – while working on at Aker Kvaerner’s Verdal facility in Norway.

The injured included a 49 year old woman and a 44 year old man from Norway and a 36 year olf man from Romania. All three are said to be seriously injured but in a stable condition. Two were flown to a nearby hospital by helicopter and the third taken by car.

Work at the Verdal facility was halted after the incident which occured at around 14:10 local time.
