Crawler crane in danger of slipping into the water

WRITTEN BY

A crawler crane was at risk of slipping into the water yesterday as the barge it was working from started to sink just off Coney Island in New York City.

The emergency services attempted to pump water from the barge in order to keep it afloat. The crane was being used by Triton Construction to fix hurricane damage to Steeplechase Pier.

Crawler, Water.

The barge was listing badly

The barge was surrounded with oil protection booms in case the crane did slip off and leak diesel and oil into the water.

It is now the responsibility of the barge owner to come up with a plan to rescue the barge.
