Crane tips

WRITTEN BY

A four axle All Terrain crane overturned yesterday in the town of Ober-Ramstadt, near Darmstadt, thankfully no one was injured.

The crane, a Tadano Faun ATF80-4 owned by Meister Kran, was working on the construction of a new supermarket and was placing roofing panels at the time, although we understand that the operator was not in the cab when the crane went over.

Crane Tips
The overturned crane appears to have been correctly set up

The outriggers were fully set with mats, the full counterweight looks to be all in place, and the 80 tonne crane looks to be in good condition, so it is hard to understand what caused the overturn – apart from an overload of some sort.

Crane Tips A
The crane was secured pending recovery.
